Letter W Activities for Preschool

Eating seasonal fruits is a lot of fun, especially if you have grown the fruit yourself.

I had an experience with one of my classes years ago when we planted and grew watermelons. It took us months waiting. But it was all worth it.

In fact, it became like a year-long learning experience. Seeing the plant sprout, grown vines and fruits. The experience was wonderful. And even magical, as I saw the experience through my preschoolers’ eyes. Wow was a daily word for us.

I hope you also get to have this experience with your child. It’s very educational.

Here are some things that my preschoolers and I learned that year:

  • It takes time to grow watermelons
  • Watermelons are heavy
  • Not all watermelons are sweet.

Well if you can’t grow watermelons at school or in your background, you can just go to the farmers’ market and buy one. Make sure to involve your child. Ask him to choose the watermelon, and maybe carry it, too! And then do the W is for Watermelon: Paper Pasting Activity.
