I know your young learners are yearning to master the letter Y. Here is a preschool art that will help your little one master this letter in no time- Y is for Yacht Art and Craft Activity!
I think it’s important for children to be exposed to a lot of words, even the uncommon ones so they can have a rich vocabulary.
Like in the case of boats. We always use boat as an example of a word that begins with b. Children are very familiar with it and they can talk extensively about it.
Since my preschoolers already know so much about boats, I decided to add more to their word bank by introducing other water transportation words.
With fun videos and pictures, I was able to catch their interest and attention. And so they learned more words.
It’s very rewarding to hear them use the words outside of the classroom in a more casual and personal context. For me, it means that they’re really learning.
As always, I came up with an art activity for further help them remember the words they’ve just learned. In this instance, I focused on the word yacht.
This alphabet activity not only helps them in remembering the new vocabulary word but it’s also great for reviewing letter sound. It also targets the following learning objectives:
- Master the letter Y through a visual cue (image of a yacht) and an auditory cue (beginning sound of the word yacht)
- Develop fine motor skills
- Foster creativity and imagination
