Challenge your child’s early reading skills through this free preschool printable- Search and Color CVC Words Worksheets!

My students love playing hide and seek. that’s why I thought of making preschool worksheets that follow the same idea. They have to read the CVC words and look for the corresponding pictures then color them.
This is a fun way for them to practice reading CVC words.
What are CVC words?
CVC words are three-letter words that consist of a consonant-vowel-consonant letter pattern. These words are easy to blend and segment, thus they are the first set of words introduced to children.
Fun Ways To Introduce CVC Words
Concrete Objects- Show your child actual objects that follow the CVC word pattern, e.g., car, can, fan, etc. Ask your child to identify the object and then say the word out loud. Segment the letter sounds so your child can hear the “three-letter sound pattern.”
Play Games- Have fun with CVC words. Invent games that would have your child read CVC words. My go-to games are Treasure Hunt, Touch the Wall, Matching Game and Bring Me.
- Treasure Hunt- Give your child a list of CVC words and ask her to look for the objects on the list. To make it more exciting, set a time limit.
- Touch the Wall- Post CVC word flashcards on the wall. Ask your child to touch the correct flashcard as you say the word.
- Matching Game- In a box, put different objects that follow the CVC word pattern. And then give your child a set of CVC word flashcards. Have your child match the objects and flashcards. Set a timer so your child will be more excited.
- Bring Me- This very straightforward game’s only rule is to have your child bring you the objects that you’re asking for.
There are so many ways to introduce CVC words to children. All you need is a little imagination and maybe a bit of preparation. But it’s worth it.
And speaking of fun, today’s free preschool worksheets will keep your child engaged and interested!
