Help your child get creative with these FREE FAMILY MEMBERS COLORING PAGES!
As we are still on the lesson theme about family, I highly recommend that you include some art and craft to your line-up of activities.
According to Howard Gardner, there are different kinds of intelligences. People excel in different areas. And as educators, we should be able to tap on these different bits of intelligence.
How?
By providing varied activities. We have to make sure that there is a variation in the tasks that we expose our children to.
In traditional curriculums, there is a heavy expectation and exposure on linguistics and math. Not so much on the arts as they are considered minor and sometimes even unnecessary.
But we already know that’s not the case. All kinds of intelligences are important and must be celebrated.
That is why I always incorporate coloring activities in my lessons.
Coloring activities are fantastic for creative expressions, and in developing children’s fine motor skills.
Benefits of Coloring to Children:
- Promotes creativity and imagination
- Calming and relaxing
- Develops fine motor skills
Because of these benefits, I make it a point to have coloring pages available in the classroom. In fact, I have dedicated trays for coloring pages at our Art and Craft Area and at the Writing Area.
Having these preschool coloring pages readily available helps my students tap into their creativity without it feeling like a chore!
They are free to choose what page they are going to color. they are also free to choose the coloring materials that they are going to use.
Aside from random coloring pages, I also print ones that are specific to our lesson.
The lesson-themed coloring worksheets help the students make a connection between what they’re doing and what we are currently learning.
As promised, here are the free family members coloring pages that I use in my lessons.
These free coloring pages include the following members of the family:
- father
- mother
- brother
- sister
- baby
- grandmother
- grandfather
There are also simple sentences at the bottom of the page to specifically target your early-readers in the classroom.
I hope these preschool coloring pages help you and your child learn about the members of the family.
