M is for Monster Art and Craft

A lot of my students love dinosaurs. They are just so fascinated by these giant extinct creatures.

Their second favorite are monsters. They get equally excited when we have these imaginary creatures in our stories, songs, and/or games.

Of course, they like the cute and fuzzy kind (think Monsters Inc.) versus the type that hides under the bed and what nightmares are made of.

I guess there’s just really something intriguing about imaginary creatures like monsters and unicorns. Personally, as an adult I find them cute, too.

As always, I found my students’ interest in monsters as a good springboard for learning. That’s why I decided to come up with an easy alphabet craft that they’ll love.

This alphabet art targets the following learning objectives:

  • Master the letter M through a visual cue (image of a monster) and an auditory cue (beginning sound of the word monster)
  • Improve fine motor skills
  • Foster creativity and imagination
